Azaris Desktop for Mac

In one sentence

Azaris Desktop lets the agents you choose use your Mac while it's awake: your files, your Chrome, and apps like Mail and Calendar. They can look without asking, and they ask you before they change anything.

What you can ask for

  • “Find last month's invoices in my Documents and total them.”
  • “Check my store's orders in Chrome and tell me what shipped late.”
  • “Draft a reply to Sarah's email about the contract.”
  • “Put the client call on my calendar for Thursday at 3.”

Your agent still lives in the cloud and keeps working when your Mac is closed. Azaris Desktop only adds your Mac to what it can use, while the Mac is awake and the app is open.

Set it up

  1. Download it. Azaris Desktop for Macs with Apple silicon (most Macs from 2020 on), or the version for Intel Macs. You need macOS 13 or later. Open the download and drag Azaris Desktop into Applications.
  2. Sign in. Open Azaris Desktop from Applications and sign in with your Azaris account.
  3. Connect your Mac. Azaris asks you to confirm, and shows a short code: check it matches the one in the app. We email you whenever a new Mac connects, with a link to disconnect it if it wasn't you.
  4. Choose your agents. In Settings → Your computer, turn on each agent you want to use this Mac.

The first time an agent opens your Desktop, Documents or Downloads, macOS asks whether Azaris Desktop may. Choose Allow.

What agents can do

Each of these has its own switch in Settings → Your computer, under What they can do. You can change them any time.

  • Files (on): look through and read files in the folders you share, and, if you choose Look and change, save, move or delete them, asking you first each time. Your Desktop, Documents and Downloads are shared to start with; Choose folders adds or removes them. Agents can't see anything outside them, or anything that looks like a password or key.
  • Websites (on): use websites in Chrome on your Mac. By default your agents get their own Chrome window with a copy of your logins, so they don't touch your tabs. Use my own Chrome adds the Azaris for Chrome extension so they can work in your Chrome instead. Clicking, typing and choosing on a page asks you first.
  • Your screen (off): see your screen and use your Mac's apps. Every click, keystroke and app it opens asks you first.
  • Mail and Calendar (off): also Contacts, Notes and Reminders. Reading never asks; drafting or sending email and adding events, notes or reminders asks you first.
  • Text messages (off): read your texts, and send ones you approve. Every text asks you first and shows exactly who gets it.

The Mac permissions it asks for

macOS protects some parts of your Mac until you allow an app in. Azaris Desktop opens the right place in System Settings and shows you what to turn on. You only see the ones for switches you turn on.

  • Files and Folders: a pop-up the first time an agent opens Desktop, Documents or Downloads.
  • Screen Recording and Accessibility, for Your screen: so agents can see the screen and click and type. Restart Azaris Desktop after turning on Screen Recording.
  • Calendars, Reminders and Contacts, for Mail and Calendar: a pop-up from macOS.
  • Automation for Mail, Notes and Messages: a pop-up asking whether Azaris Desktop may control that app.
  • Full Disk Access, for Text messages: macOS has no pop-up for this one. Turn on Azaris Desktop in the list, then quit and reopen it.

You approve every change

When an agent wants to change something, you'll see what it wants to do and where, with three choices:

  • Allow: just this once.
  • Don't allow: the agent is told no and won't try again without asking you.
  • Always allow: for that agent, in that folder, on that website or in that app, from now on. You can take it back any time under Things you always allow in Settings → Your computer.

Some things always ask, with no “always”: sending a text, moving files to the Trash, and typing into a password field.

With Answer from your phone too on, the same request also appears in that agent's chat, so you can answer from anywhere. Whichever answer comes first counts.

To stop everything at once, press Pause in Settings → Your computer. Your agents can't use the Mac until you resume.

Updates

Azaris Desktop updates itself. When a new version is ready, an Update Available button appears at the bottom of the sidebar: click it to restart into the new version, or just keep working and it installs the next time you quit.

What leaves your Mac

Nothing, until one of your agents asks for it. When it does, only what it asked for (a file, a page's text, a screenshot) goes to that agent and the AI model it uses, and becomes part of that conversation. Azaris Desktop doesn't watch or upload anything in the background, and it keeps a log on your Mac of everything agents did, which you can see in Settings → Your computer. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends us a short technical report so we can fix it, never your files, messages or screen. More in our privacy policy.

To stop all access, press Disconnect this Mac in Settings → Your computer, or use the link in the “New Mac connected” email.

Questions

My agent says it can't use my Mac.

Check three things: Azaris Desktop is open and your Mac is awake; the agent's switch is on in Settings → Your computer; and the switch for what it tried (like Your screen) is on. Some agents can't use a Mac at all, for example one that strangers can message; Settings says why next to its name.

I turned on a permission but it still doesn't work.

Quit Azaris Desktop and open it again. macOS applies Screen Recording and Full Disk Access only after the app restarts.

Does it work on Windows?

Not yet: Azaris Desktop is for Mac only for now.

Can people who text my agent use my Mac?

No. Only you can. Agents that other people can reach (a public WhatsApp or Slack, for example) can't be turned on for your Mac, and every change still needs your OK.

What happens when my Mac is asleep or closed?

Your agents carry on with everything else. If one needs your Mac, it tells you it's unavailable and tries again later.
